Effective Tips to Manage Varicose Veins Naturally

Varicose veins, the dilated and enlarged veins that appear mostly in the legs and feet, can be quite painful for some people, and can even interfere with day-to-day life. This condition often affects women during menopause and pregnancy. Ayurveda expert Dr Rekha Radhamoni shared on Instagram, “The symptoms usually include burning, itching, change in the color of the skin around the varicose veins and pain from sitting and standing for long periods of time.”

According to Nanda Rajneesh, General and Laparoscopic Surgeon, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Bangalore, varicose veins get worse if left untreated over time. “Therefore women of menopausal age should take care of the health of their veins and consult a doctor at the earliest sign of varicosity,” Nanda told the IndianExpress earlier.

But turns out, you don’t need to rely on over-the-counter medications to manage the condition, as you have some super Ayurvedic remedies coming to your rescue — straight from an expert. So see what Dr Rekha shared:

* Do not stand or sit for a long time. Take a break It can be helpful to stand and walk on your toes.

* Raise the legs while sitting. You can elevate the back of your bed or cot with wooden blocks/bricks while you sleep. It supports the valves of the veins to push the blood back towards the heart without any difficulty.

*Use anti-inflammatory oils to massage the legs and feet using upward strokes towards the heart. Apply moderate pressure.

* Do yoga asanas, especially those with inverted postures like Shirshasana, Merudandasana, Padottanasana, Sarvangasana, Naukasana etc. are beneficial.

* Get moderate exercise daily. Excessive stress can make the condition worse.

“If the above tips don’t help, you may need oral Ayurvedic medicines, dietary improvements, and some routine. Unless surgery is the only option, don’t wait until it becomes sore and bleeding.” ,” said Dr Rekha.
