Foodies in the eastern metropolis are now getting the chance to sample three-course menus at select restaurants without burning a hole in their pockets, thanks to Kolkata’s inclusion in the Restaurant Week India (RWI) event.
RWI will run from September 11 to September 20, with more than 100 of the country’s top restaurants in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and now Kolkata has been introduced, organizers Desi Restaurant Week Events said.
It allows foodies to sample a pre-selected three-course meal for just a fraction of the a la carte fare.
“This allows participating restaurants to showcase their food by selecting dishes that are representative of their philosophy and allow diners to experience restaurants they may not have tried. More importantly, though, it’s a celebration of some of the best restaurants our country has to offer and a time for us to be proud of our culinary scene,” the organizers said.
The inaugural RWI will feature pre-selected three-course menus for Rs.900 for lunch and dinner at 10 premier Kolkata restaurants such as Baan Thai, The Oberoi Grand, Durbari, Swissotel Kolkata and Souk, Taj Bengal.
To participate in the culinary spectacle, one has to make an online reservation after viewing the three-course menu and pay Rs.100 as a reservation.
Restaurant Week started in New York City in 1992 and the Indian version kicked off in September 2010 in Mumbai.
