CyberChef food specialist Shilpa Gupta shares a list of five foods you should definitely include in your diet:

Ginger: Ginger lowers high cholesterol levels and is therefore the best choice to keep the body fit in winter. With its antibacterial properties, it is also helpful in treating coughs and colds which are quite common in this season. It can be chewed raw daily or can be added to soup or other dishes to enhance the taste.

Honey: It plays an important role in fighting colds, flu or coughs in winter. Even when it is sweet, honey does not add calories and is also beneficial for keeping the body warm.

Nuts: A variety of nuts such as peanuts, walnuts and almonds are the best source of good cholesterol, vitamins, fiber and Omega-3 fatty acids. They provide essential snacks during the winter as they are naturally warm foods.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a wonderful spice to protect you from the dipping temperatures. Add it to any cooked dish or to soup and salad to add flavor or use it to make hot drinks such as tea.

Garlic: Its antibacterial properties keep you away from common winter illnesses such as colds, coughs and sore throats. It keeps cholesterol levels under control and thus contributes to good health during the winter. One can eat three to four cloves of garlic daily or add it to cooked dishes for a tasty meal.
