Zomato brings Foodie Index to help find quality restaurants

Zomato has introduced a restaurant quality index called Foodie Index to help users learn about the quality of restaurants in a particular area. The Foodie Index is available to developers worldwide as an API that they can integrate with their existing rental and travel platforms.

Foodie Index is for those looking for rental accommodations and paying guests, and who like to compare neighborhoods based on restaurant options when deciding where to stay. With the new Foodie Index, Zomato uses its in-depth local restaurant information and user-generated content to calculate a score that indicates the quality of restaurants in a particular area.

“Travel and real estate platforms will find this particularly helpful, allowing them to provide information about the quality of dining options in a given neighborhood using Zomato’s location-based Foodie Index,” a release said.

Real estate portal CommonFloor is the first platform to use the Zomato Foodie Index API. CommonFloor has made the Foodie Index available across India in their Locality Map section to help users identify ideal neighborhoods based on great eateries nearby.

“Zomato’s Foodie Index shares the same intention and vision as we do to simplify real estate decisions. The index provides information beyond just the nearby restaurants and lets a user know how a location is doing when it comes to the quality and variety of restaurants in an area. This is very beneficial for renters and paying guests, as well as those who like to compare neighborhoods based on restaurant options when deciding where to stay,” said Lalit Mangal, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, CommonFloor.
